Beijing’s Belt and Road Forum (BRF) means business for neighbors Russia and Mongolia, both of which are always looking to boost economic activities with China. This year, the meeting between the three heads of state – Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping – on the sidelines of the third Belt and Road Forum, although constructive, showed minor shifts in trilateral priorities. Meanwhile, bilateral engagements on all three legs of the triangle remain stable, despite growing geopolitical competition involving China and Russia.Â
